Colour-themed loadouts are popular and mostly hard to finish: a pink or yellow theme runs out of good options on half the weapons. Black and white is the exception. Between the Printstream family, the Black Laminate and Night finishes on knives, and a handful of greyscale pistols, you can cover almost every slot at almost any budget. This post goes through it weapon by weapon.
Why monochrome works
A monochrome loadout has two advantages beyond looking tidy. It never clashes: any sticker, charm or agent fits against black and white. And it is easy to build in stages, because a cheap greyscale skin and an expensive one still look like they belong together. You can start with budget picks and replace them one at a time.
The catch is wear. White shows dirt and scratches more than any other colour, so on the white-heavy skins below the exterior matters more than usual. Check every one at the float you are buying.
Rifles
AK-47 | Black Laminate
Black layered wood with a dark receiver: the most affordable way to put the AK in the theme, and it hides wear well. See AK-47 | Black Laminate.
M4A1-S | Printstream
Pearl white with black linework, and the centrepiece of most black-and-white loadouts. It is not cheap, and the white shows wear quickly, so compare a few floats in the viewer and on its price page before buying. See M4A1-S | Printstream.
Sniper rifles
AWP | Printstream matches the M4A1-S directly. For a cheaper option, AWP | Graphite is a dark, smooth grey that fits the theme without any white to keep clean.
Pistols
- USP-S: Printstream for the matching set, or Whiteout for an almost entirely white pistol.
- Desert Eagle: Printstream again, or Night as a cheaper dark alternative.
- Glock-18: Night keeps the T-side pistol dark and inexpensive.
- R8 Revolver: Night, if you use it.
Shotguns and the rest
The weapons you rarely buy are where a theme usually falls apart, and where monochrome stays cheap. XM1014 | Black Tie is black and white and inexpensive, and Nova | Graphite matches the AWP above. For SMGs, the PP-Bizon | Night Ops fits with no effort.
Knife and gloves
On knives, two finishes do the job on almost every model: Night (dark grey with subtle texture) and Black Laminate (black layered wood on the handle with a dark blade). For example, Karambit | Night, Butterfly Knife | Black Laminate or M9 Bayonet | Night. Newer knife models such as the Talon Knife and Stiletto Knife have Night Stripe instead.
For gloves, Driver Gloves | Black Tie are the obvious pair: black and white, and designed for exactly this look. Moto Gloves | Eclipse are a darker, cheaper alternative.
In what order to buy
- Start with the cheap dark pieces — AK Black Laminate, Glock Night, AWP Graphite — so the loadout already reads as one theme.
- Add the gloves next. They are on screen all the time and set the tone more than any single gun.
- Upgrade the M4A1-S and USP-S to Printstream when the budget allows; they are the pieces people notice.
- Leave the knife for last, and pick a Night or Black Laminate on the knife model you like most.
At each step, open the new piece in the viewer next to what you already own. A dark grey and a true black can look surprisingly different side by side, and the viewer shows it before you pay.
Questions
What is the best black-and-white skin in CS2?
The Printstream finishes — on the M4A1-S, AWP, USP-S and Desert Eagle — are the best known, and they match each other exactly. For a cheaper start, AK-47 Black Laminate and Night finishes on pistols and knives fit the same theme.
Does a white skin show wear more?
Yes. Scratches and grime show most against white, so for white-heavy skins like Printstream a cleaner float is worth more than on dark finishes. Compare floats in the viewer before you buy.
Which knife finish is black in CS2?
Night and Black Laminate on the classic knife models, and Night Stripe on the newer ones. Every knife's page lists the finishes it comes in.
